Why I’m Building This in Public

A year and a half ago, I was living in Sydney with a resume that looked complete and a life that felt anything but.

I’d left Colombia looking for something new, and Australia gave me that. A career, stability, a version of success I’d worked hard for. But I was also carrying loss, real loss, the kind that doesn’t announce itself. It just sits underneath everything, quietly reshaping how you move through your days. I kept expecting a new city, a new job, enough achievement, to eventually fill that gap. It never did.

So I started doing something different. Not therapy alone, not more studying, though I have years of that too, a chemistry degree, a career built on precision and results. I started paying attention to the parts of myself I’d been ignoring. What I ate. How I moved. Whether I ever actually sat still.

It’s been slow. Eighteen months of learning that rebuilding isn’t loud or dramatic, it’s daily. Six weeks ago it became more structured: training five days a week, actually understanding nutrition instead of guessing at it, treating stillness like a practice instead of something for later.

I’m still in it. I don’t have this finished, and I’m not waiting until I do to talk about it. This Journal is where I’ll document the process as it happens, the science behind the choices I’m making, and the parts that have nothing to do with science at all.

If you’re rebuilding something too, I hope you find something here that helps.

As within, so without.
